Owner Bio

Michael Jankovsky is a Colorado native. While hunting and fishing on the plains and in the Rocky Mountains, he spends much of his time studying and observing animals in their natural habitat.

He studied photography at the Colorado Institute of Art and has been a professional taxidermist since 1974. Michael is a student of wildlife anatomy, sculpts animal mannikins, and is highly proficient in all phases of the taxidermy profession. His experience in these disciplines inspired his interest in original wildlife sculpture and in 1984 he began sculpting limited edition bronzes.

Applying artistic standards to his taxidermy, Michael's work has won numerous competitions including "1st Place Juror's Choice Award", Safari Club International; the "Wasco Award" and the "Onno Van Veen Award" for most artistic mount. His work has also been featured in Breakthrough Magazine.

Michael's bronze sculptures have been exhibited in numerous juried shows including "Allied Artist's of America Exhibition"; National Arts Club, New York, NY; "Birds in Art", Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Wausau, WI (including the "Birds in Art" national tour and the "Birds in Art" tour of Japan); "The North American Sculpture Exhibition", Foothills Art Center, Golden, CO; "Sculpture in the Park" Loveland High Plains Arts Council, Loveland, CO; "State of the Arts '93", New England Fine Arts Institute, Boston, Massachusetts; and"Sedona Sculpture Walk", Red Rocks Arts Council, Sedona, Arizona.

Sculpture awards include the "Runyan Fisher Foundries Award" at the North American Sculpture Exhibition, the "Third Place Award" in the Artist's Magazine's "Wildlife Art Competition"', and the "Juror's Award" at the Sedona Sculpture Walk.
